Together again

Lieve Piet,

Papa, Oma & Opa joined us on the last two weeks in Malaysia. You looked confused and surprised to see Papa standing in front of you. Since we came to Malaysia, you thought Papa only exist in telephone :)

The trip ended at the beginning of March 2011. Here are some of the moments we once shared together.

Lieve Papa,

During Chinese New year, you will hear fireworks, especially in the new year eve, on the 9th day and the last day (which is the 15th day!) of Chinese New year.

I didn't like the firework when I first saw them. It was so scary, especially the ones end with a few loud bang. This one is better. No explosive sounds. I wasn't afraid of them anymore after a few rounds.

Mama said in less than a week I will see Papa, Oma and Opa again. I was over excited after I saw the faces of Papa, Oma, Opa, Tante Suus and Anna on skype last night. It took me a while to fall into sleep.

Mama asked me if it was because I missed Papa. Too bad Mama didn't really understand my words. I said: 'aaahswaaabuzhewa...papa...ahsuezhua..'

the evenings

Papa,

Mama said the kids here sleep much later, not like me, Mama always get me ready for bed around 8.30pm. But Mama sometimes break the rules, especially when we were in Singapore.



Look, it was already 9pm and I was still in a shopping centre. Mama was busy shopping and just bought a jacket from Uniqlo.



They also brought me to see lanterns by the Singapore river, but it already passed my bed time. Despite the level of noise and music in the background, I fall into deep sleep. I woke up just before they were about to leave.

Mama said Papa also won't like this kind of crowded place. It is just for taking photos, like a theme park.

On the bike

Lieve Papa,

Oh I still have so much to tell about Singapore.

Auntie Jennifer let me try to sit on the sport bike. Papa, I tried very hard but I still couldn't reach the pedal. I was so annoyed.

Papa, can you ask Sinterklaas to buy me a smaller sport bike this year? Mama said I am still too little. She said I have to wait. Papa. please......

My social skill

Dear Papa,

I want to show you some of my social skills. Here is one.

We were at the Ipoh airport, inside the depature hall waiting for boarding.

I really want to make friends with the girl in the red shirt. (The one sitting by herself on the first row)

But first I must get her to notice me.

So I did this.




Then I walked really close to her and put my hands on her laps. She smiled at me!
Mama didn't manage to take a photo of that moment, she was too slow.

But then Mama told me not only the girl saw me, in fact everyone in the room. I don't care. I kept on running around.

on the 56th Floor

Dear Papa,

Mama brought me to the Skypark Sand Hotel on the 56th Floor. From here you can view the skyline of the city. There is even a swimming pool. Opa and Oma, when you come to S'pore later you have to come here to take a look yourself!

Papa, Mama bought me a new T-shirt. She said I am a Batboy now! Do you like my new look?

Dear Papa,

Oh where shall I begin? I have been to so many places in the last few days. May be I tell you in details later? Today we went to Sentosa, there were so many people! I didnt' like it there coz I wasn't allowed to be out of the buggy. During lunch time I had a big cry to let out my frustration. After the big cry, I am happy again. Kei Kei jiejie and Hao Yuan gor gor played with me the whole day!

My first step in Singapore!

Lieve Papa,

I am in Singapore now. Wow, everything is different here.

Mama said you will love this photo, it is taken specially for you. I was very busy playing with my cousins...I like them very much, especially Hao Yuan gor gor, I like to crush his face, he is like me,very strong.
Kei Kei jie jie takes very good care of me though, like a sister to me. I like her too.



Here is another photo taken for Papa. This is the hotel with swimming pool on the top of the roof terrace.



Today is the first day of the Chinese New Year. Poh Poh bought three T-shirts with rabbit for us from the market in Ipoh. Loo, I was so tired that I fall asleep in the stroller.

Chinese New Year Eve

Today is the Chinese New Year eve, in the morning Poh Poh was busy with some traditional rituals, for example burning insence, offering tea & fruits and food to the ancestor, Guan Yin and Guan di. I said "wow' when I saw the red light bulbs. So beautiful.


Then Mama asked me to hold one of the Chinese New Year card to show Papa, Opa and Oma. This year is the year of Rabbit, can you see the Chinese writing of 'Rabbit' (Tu zi) on the card? :)

This afternoon Mama is bringing me to Singapore. Mama asked me not to cry on the plane. Let's see.

Lieve Papa,

Yesteday Mama has three visitors. One of them is a boy about 10 years old, he is the son of Mama's cousin. (You know Mama has many many cousins, so many that she lost count of them.)

I like to play with the boy, he has something really funny in his hand, it has sound and moving image.

When I miss Papa...

Lieve Papa,

When I think of Papa, I will point my finger at the phone and say 'Papa, papa'. Sometimes Mama would say: Nee, Papa is sleeping. If I keep on asking for Papa, Mama will then show me this video on her mobile phone. I have watched this clip many many times. I always clap and raise my hand following the song.

I like the new song 'Op een klein stationnetje', next time I want Papa and Mama sing together. Ja? Papa you must remember to add this song to the song book later.

Oh, these photos were taken a few days ago when my left eye was still a bit reddish and swollen. It has fully recovered after mama and poh poh gave me some Chinese herbal drink and clean my eyes with some special herbs.

I look so funny with the swollen eye here. But I wasn't bothered by it.

vis! vis!

Dear Papa,

Today we went out for dinner and missed the chance to skype with Papa.
There is a big tank in the restaurant and I kept on saying 'vis! vis!'.

Mama was very surprised to hear what I said, she taught me to say that
when we saw the fish swimming in the pond in the Japanese garden.

But Yi Zheung told me that was not fish, that was called xia or prawn.

Papa do you like my outfit today? The white pants is from Hao Yuen, my cousin in Singapore.

I don't like to sit on the high chair for too long. I asked Mama to 'bao bao' (carry me) so that I can get out of the chair. It is so boring. I want to run around.

night life

Lieve Papa,

I am so excited! Tonight we went to somewhere I never been before - the night market!

It is already dark out there but there are so many people and so many things on the street. Let me show you!


There was a stall selling all kind of fish.


YiYi bought some cold drinks - freshly squeezed sugar cane juice. It is so cold!


Mama said this ice-cream potong is your favourite too. There are so many differnt flavour. They let me taste it but I don't like it, it is so cold.


Papa, can you find me in the crowd?


I also saw a flickering light like the one on Papa's bike.


I want to touch everything, especially the one with light.

We went home around 8.30pm and I was really really really tired. Mama let me drink a cup of oat milk and then put me to bed. I fell asleep in less than 10 minutes.

Ji Ji

Lieve Papa,

This is 'Ji Ji' (Chicken in Chinese), somebody gave it as a gift to Poh Poh. Here during Chinese New Year, people gave gifts to each other, for example, mandarins, cookies, Chinese salami and sometimes including a live stock like chicken.

Before I only saw ji ji in animal book, this is a real one and it made funny sounds.

What is this?

Lieve Papa,

Last night when you called I was already lying in bed but I still want to talk to Papa. I didn't want to say goodbye. Mama then tried to explain to me Papa has to work. Then I was awake again and rolled all over the bed for a while before I finally fall asleep.

Anyway, here is a photo I want to show you.

Do you know what is this? Mama put one ringgit in the box and then the car will move up and down. So funny!I wasn't afraid at all, I just hold it tight and sat very still.

Go Shopping

Papa, look at me on the shopping trolley! It is the first time I sat on this strange moving basket, I like it very much.

Oh, Mama wants me to tell you I can sleep through the night most of the time now. So Papa when you come to see us in three weeks, you don't have to wake up in the middle of the night. Hmm...but I can't promise yet, sometimes I still want to cry in the night. Papa, will you sing to me then? Ja?

Woof Woof...

Chinese New Year

Dear Papa,

Next Wednesday is Chinese New Year eve, Mama will bring me to Singapore. The whole family will be there. Mama said we are going to meet up with another Uncle, my cousins Kei Kei and Hao Yuen are very eager to meet me soon.

Mama tried to show me what is Chinese New Year. There is a shop in the old town selling decorations for the new year. Wow, so many things I can touch! Poh Poh bought me a paper windmill from the shop.

Fish!

Mama, Poh Poh, Yi Yi & Yi Zheung (Aunt and Uncle) brought me to a place call Japanese garden. Mama said when she was little, she went there quite often with Gong Gong & Poh Poh. I like to walk on the bridge and look at the fish in the pond. They keep on taking photos. I just want to run around on the grass.




Mama said when Yi Yi was still a baby, she sat on this big rock and took a picture. Oh now it is my turn, I am still a baby.
