in KL

Hello everyone, oh I forgot I could still have access to internet at my younger brother's home in KL. I took a few snapshots. Especially for Papa who misses Piet a lot.


We arrived in KL around noon time today. Piet seems to get better and look more alert. While we were walking to a restaurant for lunch, my mum insisted that Piet needed some protection from the heat. :)


My younger brother works and live in KL. His apartment is on the 23rd floor. From here you can have a view of the KL tower and part of the KL Petronas Twin Tower.


My younger brother, Chee Ferng and his girlfriend, Kelly. She has a Chinese mother and an Indian dad, she speaks fluent Mandarin and Cantonese.

Like always, Piet is very curious about these two new faces and after a few minutes of intense observation, he become 'friends' with them.

Tomorrow morning we will be heading to Muar, another two and a half hours drive. My elder brother and his family (who live in S'pore) will meet us there too.It is a rare occasion for a big family reunion like this! (Only Emiel is missing... :P )

On the road

We will be leaving for KL & Muar tomorrow. My sister is getting married this Saturday in Muar-the hometown of her husband. Because of the long distance between Muar and Ipoh, it is not possible to gather everyone in one place, there will be a separate wedding banquet for the family and friends in Ipoh next Saturday.

Piet was unwell since this afternoon, coughing a lot and I can feel his body temperature is slightly warmer than usual. I guess it could be the hot weather in the past few days and there is a lot of new things for him to take in! It is the first time for me to see Piet being unwell, I was by his bedside for a couple of hours until he slept. Just now I checked on him again, his body temperature seems to be back to normal and sleeping soundly again.

Don't worry I am sure he will be fine. He is a strong boy. Ok we will be back to Ipoh on Sunday. Till then, tot ziens!

Wednesday morning

This morning we have breakfast at the food stall of my uncle, he sells different kind of noodles, cooked with prawn, fish ball, fish cakes, bean curd and others...my favourite is the prawn soup noodle (the bottom dish that looks like curry but it is not curry).


The lady wearing lime green t-shirt is the wife of my uncle. Her name is Sau-Ying.


She carried Piet and introduced him to other food seller in the same cafe. This lady sells fresh fruit.


My uncle (I have 4 uncles all together, he is the eldest)- His name is Heng, standing in front of his food stall. He has four children and has been selling noodles here for nearly 15 years.

Piet did not have a seat by himself, but the flight was not full and I managed to the KLM staff to get an empty seat next to me.

After breakfast, we went to a shopping centre. Piet needs more summer clothing!


It is so nice to see him wearing summer outfit like this.


Then we went to see one of my aunts who has a stall selling fresh coconut drink.Of course I had one coconut drink, so cooling in such hot weather.

I was surprised Piet had no jet lag at all. He slept at 10pm on the first evening and then woke up every 3 hours - the usual sleep pattern. The next morning he woke up at 8am. I was glad he let me had a good sleep after such a long long journey.


The next morning we went out for breakfast, in the weekend it is very common to have breakfast in a local cafe.


This is one of my favourite, flat rice noodle with curry sauce (Cheong Fun) and a Malaysian style coffee- Kopi.


My dad - Piet's Opa, Opa in Chinese is called 'Gong Gong'.

I was surprised Piet had no jet lag at all. He slept at 10pm on the first evening and then woke up every 3 hours - the usual sleep pattern. The next morning he woke up at 8am. I was glad he let me had a good sleep after such a long long journey.


The next morning we went out for breakfast, in the weekend it is very common to have breakfast in a local cafe.

After 12 hours of flying, we finally landed in KL. I was totally knackered as Piet kept on waking up from his sleep and had one long big cry in the plane.

But I was really really happy to see my mum, my sis and brother in law at the airport. We drove back to Ipoh right away, it took about 3 hours from the airport.


Piet's new car seat! Believe it or not, it was last used by my niece 9 years ago, my mum has kept it like NEW!


And Piet was tired and fell asleep during the journey back to Ipoh.
